Cytomegalovirus (CMV) is a human herpes virus (HHV-5) and has a diameter of approximately 120 to 180 nm. It is an enveloped icosahedral virus that contains a nucleocapsid and double-stranded linear DNA. CMV is propagated in the MRC-5 cell line. Heat inactivated culture fluids are sold in 1.0 mL aliquots, and shipped on dry ice. Each lot of viral culture fluid is assayed for its Tissue Culture Infective Dose (TCID50) before being heatinactivated. Custom orders are available, including specific volumes and package sizes.
Heat inactivated viral culture fluids are sold as consumable testing materials. The suitability and performance characteristics should be determined by your laboratory for each intended usage. These products are NOT intended for use in the manufacture or processing of injectable products subject to licensure under section 351 of the Public Health Service Act or for any other product intended for administration to humans.
